Orbicular Agate Palm Stone — Lebanese Eye-Pattern Specimen

This orbicular agate palm stone is a substantial hand-polished specimen gathered from the Minieh shoreline in North Lebanon. The surface of this orbicular agate palm stone carries 9+ concentric eye formations — orbicules — suspended in a warm amber chalcedony ground.

This orbicular agate palm stone sits in the overlap between two collected categories: flower agate and orbicular agate, prized for its perfectly circular eye patterns. Furthermore, compared to №002 in the catalog which reads soft and painterly, this stone reads structural — the orbicules are sharper, more defined, and more numerous. As a result, counting the distinct eyes reveals nine or ten across a single face, each one a separate geological event recorded in silica.

The ground is a warm caramel chalcedony, deeper and more saturated than the pale flower agates of Madagascar or China. In addition, the cream orbicules and lace bands stand out like ink dots on parchment. For instance, holding the piece to window light reveals the amber body glowing softly — a visual test of natural, untreated chalcedony that dyed or synthetic stones cannot pass.

Why This Orbicular Agate Palm Stone Is a Collector’s Piece

Orbicular patterning — where silica crystallizes into perfect round eyes — is one of the most sought-after formations in the agate world. Moreover, the Lebanese Mediterranean coast produces a distinctive variant of orbicular agate palm stone: smaller orbicules than Madagascan ocean jasper, warmer ground tones than Brazilian agate, and a translucency that speaks to slow, clean silica deposition. Consequently, specimens like this are genuinely uncommon on the international market.
